Patriot tennis

California was a lot of fun but now we are back in Texas and ready to roll! Both of the UT Tyler tennis teams had a busy weekend. The men came out wasting no time and won 8-1 against Linfield college Friday afternoon and the women had a tough match up against Whitman College losing 6-3;   
In singles action, Jennifer Payne won 5-7, 6-2, 11-9 while Brittany Trich won 6-1, 6-0, notching the only two wins for the Patriots.UT Tyler won one matchup in #3 doubles action, with the team of Ashley Albro and Morgan Wilkins winning 8-3 over Hanna Palkowitz and Maddy Webster from Whitman.
Saturday both teams competed against Hardin-Simmons; the men won 7-2 and the women won 9-0.
To close out our weekend, both teams played a Trinity on Sunday afternoon.
The women had a tough matchup with the #13 team in the nation. The girls pulled through and won all three doubles; Sydni Hermsdorf and Amy Friesenhahn teamed up to win the no. 1 doubles match, 8-6. Jessica Blundell and Jennifer Paybe won 8-2, and Ashley Albro and Morgan Wilkins at no. 3 doubles won 9-7. In singles action, Hermsdorf won 6-3, 6-4, while Brittany Trich won the deciding match 6-4, 7-6.The women beat Trinity 5-4 overall!
The men were defeated by Trinity 7-2;  Singer defeated Jordan Mayer 6-0, 7-6, while Rob Hodous came from behind, winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Both teams had a great weekend! Next weekend we hit the road to play Louisiana College, and Mississippi College!

Spring Break in California!!

Spring break is here once again and we are back in California!!! The womens team faced a tough loss to the Redlands 5-4 on Saturday and the men lost to Whittier 6-3. We fortunately had Sunday off and went Indian Wells to watch some professional tennis! It was a blast; we saw Nadal, Del Potro, Roddick, Wozniacki, and many more top ranked players! We got Monday off as well so it was just a relaxing day at the house- pool, grill, and games! Tomorrow the women play Whittier at 4 and the men play the Redlands at 3. There will be an update tomorrow! HERE WE GO PATS!!!

Update of the weekend and getting ready for CALI!

UT Tyler tennis teams had two matches this last Saturday. We played Ozarks at 10 a.m. - the women's team won 9-0 and the mens team won 9-0 also. We played Midwestern in the afternoon; this match was a little tougher for us but we love the battle... The women's team lost 8-1 and the mens team lost 6-2. We leave for California on Friday. We are very excited and ready to play Redlands, Whittier, Chapman, and California Lutheran! Our blog will be updated during that week! Now it's time to get prepared this week! Let's go PATRIOTS!!

Saturday matches!

Well both men and women's tennis teams had a great start yesterday! Both teams beat Mary Hardin Baylor: Men won 9-0 overall and women won 8-1 overall! We are looking forward to our matches today!! We have one at 10 against Howard Payne and one at 3 against Southwestern! We are pumped and ready to roll today! We loved the support we had yesterday! Anyone is welcome to come out too! We love a crowd!

Getting the season started!

Hey everyone!
The UT Tyler tennis have a busy weekend ahead! Today, both men and women play Mary Hardin Baylor at 3:30. Then tomorrow morning they both play Howard Payne at 10 a.m. and in the afternoon they play Southwestern at 3:00 p.m.
They should all be great matches! We are very excited and ready to get the season rolling! There will be an update after the match today along with updates tomorrow!!

Practice time!

Practice starts next week for the UT Tyler tennis teams! The women start on Monday and the Men start on Tuesday! We are all ready for the season to start!
