Patriot tennis

California was a lot of fun but now we are back in Texas and ready to roll! Both of the UT Tyler tennis teams had a busy weekend. The men came out wasting no time and won 8-1 against Linfield college Friday afternoon and the women had a tough match up against Whitman College losing 6-3;   
In singles action, Jennifer Payne won 5-7, 6-2, 11-9 while Brittany Trich won 6-1, 6-0, notching the only two wins for the Patriots.UT Tyler won one matchup in #3 doubles action, with the team of Ashley Albro and Morgan Wilkins winning 8-3 over Hanna Palkowitz and Maddy Webster from Whitman.
Saturday both teams competed against Hardin-Simmons; the men won 7-2 and the women won 9-0.
To close out our weekend, both teams played a Trinity on Sunday afternoon.
The women had a tough matchup with the #13 team in the nation. The girls pulled through and won all three doubles; Sydni Hermsdorf and Amy Friesenhahn teamed up to win the no. 1 doubles match, 8-6. Jessica Blundell and Jennifer Paybe won 8-2, and Ashley Albro and Morgan Wilkins at no. 3 doubles won 9-7. In singles action, Hermsdorf won 6-3, 6-4, while Brittany Trich won the deciding match 6-4, 7-6.The women beat Trinity 5-4 overall!
The men were defeated by Trinity 7-2;  Singer defeated Jordan Mayer 6-0, 7-6, while Rob Hodous came from behind, winning 4-6, 6-4, 10-7.
Both teams had a great weekend! Next weekend we hit the road to play Louisiana College, and Mississippi College!
